Government modifies admission requirements to Uruguay for foreigners

Updated: Feb 28, 2023

After the Government decree that established the end of the health emergency because of the pandemic, some of the health control measures for entry of people into Uruguay remained in effect. These included the proof to be immunized against Covid-19, mandatory antigen or PCR testing for those who did not have such immunity, and proof of health coverage in Uruguay or having sufficient health insurance.

Through a recently published regulatory decree, the Government suppressed all the health requirements that were required of foreigners for entry into Uruguay, with the exception of health insurance.

As a result, foreign citizens who intend to enter Uruguay must now prove that they have health coverage or sufficient health insurance during their stay in Uruguay.
